Hi! I’m Melody, a proud mama of four, with three kids who play lacrosse (two high school girls and one youth boy). I’ve seen how this game builds strength, confidence, and connection. But I’ve also seen how hard it can be, especially for girls, to get real game time.
That’s why I’m starting Turquoise Thunder — to give more girls the chance to get on the field, grow their skills, and feel the power of sisterhood. Even a few minutes of play can build courage, leadership, and love for the Medicine game (aka better know as secular lacrosse).
Lacrosse is more than just a sport, it’s a gift from the creator giving to the (Haudenosaunee people of the long house)as a medicine game, and I hold and give deep gratitude for this beautiful space. I want to bring kids from all walks of life together to play, connect, and discover the beauty of this powerful game.
Let’s grow this movement, one pass, one ground ball, one cheer at a time!
That’s me in the red blouse with my mom Venus, and two of my kids—Daughter Nłchi, a high school lacrosse player, and Sun Tekiawi, a lacrosse youth player. My other two were off chasing adventure and soaking up some learning!

Lacrosse: A Sacred Gift
Rooted in the sacred game of stickball the medicine game. Lacrosse is a gift from the creator to the Haudensaunee people of the long house. Gifted to The people on Turtle Island as a path to healing, unity, bring joy , happiness and ceremony.
With deep gratitude, we honor, give thanks to this tradition—thanking those who came before and those yet to come. Lacrosse is more than a game; it’s a legacy of spirit and connection.

We practice outside with Mother Earth—fresh air, open skies, and school fields. In winter, we may move indoors to places like the desert sage acadmedy. We have just moved our practices at the SFIS (santa fe Indian school) Football field Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 6pm to 8pm. Sign up to Stay tuned!

Our mission is to grow the game and uplift girls through confidence, teamwork, and play.
Open to 6th grade through high school — no experience needed, just heart.
Lacrosse builds skills, leadership, and a strong sense of belonging.
Join the movement. Feel the thunder. Rise with us.
